CPD–TARA FY 2023–25 programme: 20 kW Solar Microgrid
BACKGROUND
Under the CPD–TARA FY 2023–25 programme, CPD implemented a pilot project titled “A 20 kW Solar Microgrid for Integrated Farming in the Rural Area.” The project was realized through the installation of a 20 kW Solar Charging Station at Konapara Char, Mymensingh, designed to promote renewable energy-based rural transport and decentralized energy solutions. The station provides clean electricity for charging electric rickshaws, reducing reliance on fossil fuels while improving rural mobility and energy access. The project was installed in January–May 2025, formally commissioned on 5 May 2025, and is currently operational. The investment also aims to support local economic development and community-based energy services.
POWER GENERATION
Solar photovoltaic (PV) generation. The system generates electricity during daylight hours and stores excess energy in batteries for charging operations. The station has the operational capacity to charge up to five electric rickshaws through 5 battery storage (Voltage: 60V, Capacity: 120Ah) per day.
FINANCE
Project funded under the CPD–TARA programme with implementation managed by CPD.
